Asparagus starts peaking through in early May after the ground warms up in the spring sun. We starting cutting soon after and continue until the end of June. We pick and deliver locally in season.

We are in the process of re-establishing our patch.

This fruit has a very different flavour from the more familiar red varieties.  These berries grow on very thorny bushes that are more like barbed wire so we pick this fruit for safety.

Saskatoons

We pick: $30/pail

   U-Pick:   $17/pail

We start picking our Martin saskatoons in the last week of June. The birds love this fruit, so it's a good sign that this dark purple berry should be a people favourite as well.  We use 4 liter ice cream pails. For comparison only, a pail of this fruit weighs approximately 5.5 lbs.

 U-Pick:   $17/pail  (appointment only)

We have a few varieties: the old standard Boyne, Souris, Killarney, and two very old varieties unidentified but that we have named PEI's (they were brought to Manitoba in 1948 from our great-uncle's place in PEI), and a lovely large berry passed on to us as well.

The picking usually starts after July 10 depending on the spring weather.   Bugs and blight are our nemesis in this delicate fruit.. so we do spray very carefully.

We use 4 liter ice cream pails. For comparison only, a pail of this fruit weighs approximately 5.5 lbs.

Status:  Just starting to bud.

We have five varieties from the Romance series developed by the U. of S. at Saskatoon: Romeo, Juliet, and Crimson Passion are our mainstays, but we also have a few Cupid and Valentine.

Harvest can start as early as the 1st week of July or as late as the 3rd week.. it all depends on the spring weather.

We use 4 litre ice cream pails. For comparison only, a pail of this fruit weighs approximately 6 lbs or 2.7 kg.

Bring your own 4 litre pails for picking or containers to transfer your fruit into. We will supply berry baskets or picking pails if needed.  We will refuse picking pails that are over-sized.

Please give us 1 day's notice if you are ordering pre-picked pails.

Status: Buds are forming.
